Baby girl is growing up

Time flies when you're having fun.
At the end of the month Emma will 5 years old. Unbelievable.
Today I had an appointment to register Emma for kindergarten. Come September she'll be a big girl taking the bus to and from school, gone all day.
Emma is really turning into a big girl. She definitely has her very own character, a strong one at that. She is looking so much bigger to me almost every day. Some days she seems so much older and mature. She has even worked with me to plan her birthday party with her friends, including a theme she chose, what kind of birthday cake and the activities we will be doing. Amazing.
That's my baby girl =)

Muddling through the winter blues

It's official. I'm done with winter. Unfortunately winter is not done with us.
Even Emma is showing signs of wanting winter gone. Only today she was mentioning that she is wanting to play in her sandbox and swim in an outdoor pool. Le sigh.
On Friday we received a good old dumping of snow. It was snowing so hard I could hardly see a stoplight just one block away from me!
Of course, being a hardy Winnipegger (as opposed to a stay indoors and hide Torontonian LOL, jk), we still went to our baby group. After being there for only two hours, there was at least 5cm of snow my van! Driving definitely was slow going, but we did manage to get gas, bring Emma to preschool and pick up Richard after his dentist appointment.
Richard took over the driving, we got some fast food for lunch from A&W, I like their Swiss Veggie Burger, although you usually have to wait extra time for it to be ready.
Richard then dropped my off at the walk-in clinic. I had a headache for one week already by that point. I think because of the snow storm, the place was virtually empty. I was in and out in about 15 minutes. I actually had to wait longer for my prescription to be filled! LOL.
I walked over to the Salvation Army and picked up a few good deals for the kiddies. Afterward I walked over to Emma's school where Richard and the boys met up with us.
We were supposed to go Le Centre Crée for Soirée Pijama (Pajama movie night), but we decided to stay home. It's on a small side street and with all the snow, we figured it would be too tough to find parking.
All week since then we've been stuck in a deep freeze, today it finally warmed up, but the kids all have a cold so we're still indoors. Hopefully the weather will still stay nice at least for a few days.
I miss going to the park and I miss doing picnics.
